To help you make quick progress in French, here are five tips that will allow you to improve your language skills while having fun!

1. Start by learning what interests you.

Organize your learning by grouping vocabulary into themes that fascinate you, such as food, travel, or business. This approach makes memorization easier and helps you establish connections between words. Then, for each theme, try to formulate simple sentences to use the vocabulary in concrete situations.

2. Immerse yourself in French culture

Familiarize yourself with the language by listening to podcasts, songs, and watching French TV shows. Reading is also an excellent way to improve your level: explore books, articles, or blogs. These practices will help you enrich your vocabulary while making your learning more enjoyable. Moreover, watching movies or series in French, with or without subtitles, will allow you to understand the context, learn common expressions, and listen to different accents.

Here are some things you could listen to improve your French:

– Podcasts: FrenchPod101 offers captivating lessons on various subjects for all levels.

– Music: Explore the songs of your favorite French artists, like Stromae or Angèle, to enrich your vocabulary and discover expressions.

Suggestions for French books:

-“Le Petit Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is a beautiful introduction for beginners, addressing deep themes with basic language.

– “L’Etranger” by Albert Camus is a more advanced read that will enrich your vocabulary and help you understand more complex grammatical structures.

Examples of movies you can watch:

-“Les Intouchables”, a touching dramedy, explores the friendship between two men from different backgrounds.

-“Rien à déclarer”, a comedy that plays on the differences between the French and Belgians, is a great movie to learn to recognize and appreciate different accents.

3. Dive into immersion

4. Dare to speak

Don’t hesitate to find language partners or join conversation groups to practice speaking French.

Daring to speak is essential for your progress! Don’t be afraid of making mistakes.

Tip: Join a sports club to meet people with shared interests and practice the language in a fun environment.

5. Be patient and persistent

Learning a language takes time and effort. Allow yourself to make mistakes and celebrate your small victories, whether it’s mastering a new word or holding a conversation.

For example: Record a video of yourself speaking. You can watch it again six months later to appreciate your progress!
